Meet Waffles! This sweet boy is an energetic hound mix puppy. (Approximately 13 weeks old) We are unsure of the complete details of his upbringing before we got him, but were told he has chow, shepherd and hound mix as parents. He definitely has hound vocalizations so he would do best in a home that has an appreciation for that part of his personality. He does wonderful with other dogs, but would do best in one that only has 1-2 dogs that are both active and not total couch potatoes all day. So likely a dog that isn’t a senior or unsocial. It is also important that the dog he is learning from doesn’t have massive behavior issues like separation anxiety, fear, or aggression. He is pretty attached to his foster mom and does attend daycare every week so finding a home that can suit his energy level, yet also be empathetic to him transitioning to a new situation that may be hard on him is very important! He is still working on potty training, and currently does far better in a puppy proof room in the home when you are gone instead of a crate. He is learning basic training now and would do best in a home that is committed to learning from a professional, especially if you haven’t done a class with a trainer in the last 3 years (a lot has changed with science!) We are unsure of how large Waffles will be full grown, but it is safe to say he shouldn’t go to a home that is concerned about him being under a set weight, since most of his mixes range quite a bit. We are going to say he could easily be over 40 lbs, but we really don’t know how much more. He is a shedding dog, so while he doesn’t require intensive grooming, he can certainly use a few baths a year to help with shedding and will require nail trims every 4-6 weeks.

Waffles will be be neutered and micro-chipped as part of the adoption package as well as the basic vaccine series, deworming and flea treatements.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

If you think you may be the perfect companion for Waffles and are interested in adopting - we request that you put in an application online (Click on Fill out an Adoption Interest Application right from this page) Note that we are only able to process online apps at this time, due to current Covid-19 pandemic and not currently having open hours at the shelter. Also note that Waffles is currently living in a foster home and not at the shelter location to be seen.

All applications will be screened - we are looking to place Waffles in a home that is the best fit for him. The online application MUST be filled out in its entirety including all 3 references and current vet along with phone numbers or they will not be processed. (Only 1 reference can be a relative please, and no references that are living in the same home) An adoption coordinator will be in touch with you for a phone interview if we feel the applicant would be a good match. We will then set up a time to schedule a meet and greet for those candidates to meet him.
